Introduction

Bayfield School is on a lovely tree-clad site, in the central Auckland suburb of Herne Bay.  We have a well resourced school, both in terms of facilities and equipment and with the high calibre of staff members. There is a strong spirit of community with supportive parents and enthusiastic students. Our students are happy, motivated and engaged in their learning, and teachers and staff find Bayfield a happy place to work. Bayfield School’s mission is Inspired today –prepared for tomorrow
We believe that learning is a life long process involving staff, students and families, and by building a strong partnership between school and home we will achieve great outcomes for students. Our key values are respect, responsibility and excellence. We promote high standards in all areas and offer an all-round rich curriculum.
Visitors are welcome at Bayfield anytime. Contact us to arrange a visit or with any questions.

Curriculum

We are currently rewriting our curriculum so that our learning is aligned with the move to our open and collaborative MLE building. Alongside a facilitator we have discussed what our 21st Century students will need in 2020 and beyond. We have developed five key areas which will guide our pedagogy:

- Relationships
- Personalised Learning
- Inquiry and Thinking
- Key Competencies and Values
- Assessment for Learning

We are also working with an e-Learning facilitator to develop an e-Learning Framework. These areas of professional development will continue on in 2017.

Education Review Office Report

The Education Review Office (ERO) reviews schools and early childhood education services, and publishes national reports on current education practice. The Board of Trustees is delighted to have received the Education Review Office (ERO) Report for our school. The ERO Report is a reflection of the high quality teaching practices at Bayfield and is a credit to Sheryl and our staff. We are delighted to have achieved a 4-5 year review time-frame, this is an endorsement of how well the school is doing.
