Music

Bayfield School has a dedicated music suite and specialist music teacher Robyn McQueen.

Robyn is trained in the Orff Approach to music and movement education. She is actively involved in the music education community as a past president and current committee member of ONZA , and as a member of MENZA. She has presented at workshops and conferences in New Zealand and Australia.

Weekly class music lessons focus on active, creative music-making using the voice, body percussion, and a range of classroom instruments. Our dedicated music room is well resourced with ukuleles, recorders, marimbas, xylophones, guitars and keyboards.

Individual and small group lessons in some instruments are offered at school through Lewis Eady Music School. Students in Years 5 and 6 also have opportunities to participate in outside events such as choir and marimba festivals.
