Physical education is part of the New Zealand school curriculum. Being active every day is encouraged to support healthy bodies and minds. The children often participate in Jump Jam (exercise to music). Our teachers also teach a variety of active games and sport skills. Bayfield Primary has an enthusiastic and successful sporting tradition. We value participation, striving to do our best, good sportsmanship and supporting our teammates.
Each year Bayfield assembles teams of keen Year 5 & 6 students to compete in the Auckland Inner City School Sports Competitions.
These may include: Athletics, Cricket, Cross country, Football, Hockey, Ki o rahi, League, Netball, Rippa rugby, Skiing/snowboarding, Softball, Swimming, Tennis and Touch rugby.
These are promoted during class notices and in school Newsletters.
