Reporting
Hero is our online reporting platform. Hero allows teachers to share learning throughout the term in an online environment that is secure, easy and effective. The system is designed to build year on year so that over time you have access to an overview of your child's progress during their time at Bayfield.

General Comments
General comments will encompass comments based on our New Zealand Curriculum Key Competencies, your child’s work ethic, friendships, collaboration etc.
Overall Teacher Judgments of Progress
Overall teacher judgments about whether your child is on track to meet the expected curriculum level, at the expected level or below will also be made in conjunction with the general comments.
Year 0-3 General Comments and Overall Teacher Judgements of Progress
For year 0-3 students, teachers make overall teacher judgments (OTJ) and write general comments on the children’s anniversary and half-year anniversary months. For example: if your child started school in October they would be due to have their mid-year general comment and OTJ in April and their end of year comment and OTJ in October.
Year 4-6 General Comments and Overall Teacher Judgements of Progress
For year 4-6 students, teachers make overall teacher judgments (OTJ) and write general comments at the end of Term 2 and Term 4.
Understanding Curriculum Levels- where your child should be working at
As teachers, we measure the children's progress against curriculum levels. Each curriculum level generally spans two years, with some children working above or below their expected level.
Level 1: year 1-2
Level 2: year 3-4
Level 3: year 5-6
On Hero, you will see a series of graphs that track your child's progress. These graphs update in conjunction with when the teachers write the general comments and overall teacher judgements (OTJ’s).
