At Bayfield School the students are assigned to a 'House', named after a significant New Zealander and represented by a colour. Each house contains students from every year level. Siblings are assigned to the same house group.
Houses: Hillary white, Kupe red, Rutherford green, Sheppard blue.
There are several house days throughout the year where students work in their houses together to earn house points. eg Matariki Day and sports day
House points are also awarded by teachers during learning time as a reward to students for good behaviour, displaying school values and great learning.
